Woody Guthrie was the pioneer of American folk and protest song, the spiritual father of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and every singer-songwriter who ever dreamed of “changing the world” with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica. Woody’s torch was carried on by his son Arlo as well, with his legendary Alice’s Restaurant… Now it’s Sarah Lee Guthrie’s turn—Arlo’s daughter and Woody’s granddaughter. Her destiny was sealed from the start: the first time she stepped on stage was at Carnegie Hall before she had even turned fourteen, duetting with her father Arlo on Pete Seeger’s celebrated “Sailin’ Down My Golden River” before a sold-out, ecstatic audience. Sarah carries forward her family’s message with a gentle urgency in her performances, guided by her spirit and her voice—so pure and clear. In 2009 she released "Go Waggaloo", an album of original family songs (some featuring lyrics by Woody) that won numerous awards and brought Sarah on tour with "The Guthrie Family Rides Again", surrounded by generations of relatives and friends. Sarah Lee Guthrie grew up in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, but recently relocated to Austin, Texas—the ever-evolving city of songwriters, where roots and innovation meet—where she is working on a new album, anticipated by the debut single “Honey and the Dew,” a charming western swing love song. Sarah will arrive in Italy accompanied by pianist and accordionist Radoslav Lorković, an extraordinary Croatian musician who has collaborated with Odetta, Jimmy LaFave, Greg Brown, and Richard Shindell. Sarah and Rado often perform together at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, held every July in Oklahoma, and for the first time they will be on tour to surprise and enchant audiences of every kind—continuing to spread Woody Guthrie’s timeless message: “This land is your land!”
