“Dreamer’s Motel”

Joachim Cooder: voice, electric mbira
Adriano Viterbini: electric guitar

Joachim Cooder grew up surrounded by music, alongside his father, the legendary guitarist and seven-time Grammy winner Ry Cooder, who took him on tour from a young age as a drummer, performing both live and in the studio. These incredible experiences allowed him to share the stage and studio work with artists such as Johnny Cash, Ali Farka Touré, V. M. Bhatt, Steve Earle, John Lee Hooker, Dr. John, Nick Lowe, Mavis Staples, The Happy Mondays and, in particular, the multi-award-winning Buena Vista Social Club project, which has sold over eight million copies worldwide and entered the Guinness World Records as the best-selling world music album of all time. A singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Joachim Cooder released his new album "Dreamer’s Motel" on November 13, a collection of original songs. Co-produced by Martin Pradler (John Mayer, Shawn Mendes, Neil Young), "Dreamer’s Motel" sees Cooder explore new sonic territories, moving with authenticity through soulful Americana, folk, roots, and alt-country. With rich melodic craftsmanship and understated charm, this collection is a reminder of the wide range and deep musical heritage of the Californian musician. It transports listeners into a boundless sonic stratosphere, a nostalgic journey where reality is infused with visions of hope and sweetness living in dreams and memories. Some tracks delicately blend vocal lines with Caribbean rhythms; others feature guitars resonating beneath gently swaying, lullaby-like choruses; others still are infused with gospel influences, with ethereal choral voices responding to Cooder’s lead while the track’s instrumental beauty unfolds from banjo lines weaving and winding beneath a foundation of piano, viola, and violin. Elsewhere, vibrant psychedelic folk meets the Cajun voodoo style of Dr. John, yielding melodies as hypnotic as they are unforgettable. Regarding Cooder’s previous album, "Over That Road I’m Bound" (2020), critics wrote:
A joyful blend of African kalimba and traditional country blues melodies.” — The Sunday Times
Warm, uplifting and quietly spectacular.” — Uncut
Inherited talent finds its inspirational vein… a lively, joyful full-length record.” — MOJO
Joining Joachim on stage will be Adriano Viterbini — Italian guitarist, singer, and composer inspired by Ry Cooder, Blind Willie Johnson, RATM, Tinariwen, Nuno Bettencourt, Weezer, and Beck, known as the guitarist and founder of Bud Spencer Blues Explosion, I Hate My Village, and Black Friday. Originally from Castel Gandolfo, he began playing music at the age of 5, first the piano and later electric and acoustic guitar. Since 2000, he has carved out a multifaceted role in the Roman music scene, collaborating in the studio and on stage with numerous prominent artists, including Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails), Enzo Pietropaoli, Raf, Bombino, Nicolò Fabi, Daniele Silvestri, Max Gazzè, Alberto Ferrari (Verdena), Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Rokia Traoré, Nic Cester, Kasabian, Muse, Cor Veleno, Fabio Rondanini (Calibro 35, Afterhours), and Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle).
