“Myricae” is the title of the new album by Genoese guitarist Luca Falomi: nine previously unreleased instrumental pieces, carefully selected from the vast body of material he has written over the past five years. The work places the guitar at the center in all its timbral and expressive nuances, exploring a musical territory that lies between composition and improvisation, embracing elements of jazz, world music, classical music, and avant-garde. The title, inspired by Giovanni Pascoli’s celebrated poetry collection, carries a deep personal meaning, evoking an intimate reflection on the small and great things of life. Like Pascoli’s “tamarisks,” which symbolize a poetry rooted in familiar and everyday themes, Myricae stands as a work that narrates emotions and stories through music. The album alternates pieces recorded live, without overdubs, with compositions enriched by production elements and collaborations with highly talented artists, each of whom contributed in a unique and meaningful way to shaping the evocative final result. Stefano Della Casa played a fundamental role as co-producer of the entire project. In particular, he skillfully integrated subtle and perfectly contextual electronic textures into the compositions, also enriching some tracks with carefully crafted effects. In addition, he oversaw the complete production of “Sciarada” and “Enigma,” giving them an innovative and modern sonic dimension. Marco Fadda, one of the most esteemed percussionists in Europe, enhanced the tracks “Ishtar” and “Peace Song” with a multitude of instruments from all over the world. His contribution added depth and dynamism, creating a bridge between different cultures and musical traditions. Pianist Giovanni Ceccarelli enriched “Peace Song” with the evocative sound of the Fender Rhodes, making the piece even more elegant and refined thanks to his lyricism and his ability to create captivating atmospheres. Finally, Giulia Beatini, a mezzo-soprano specializing in early and contemporary music, contributed a light and airy vocal line that gave a new dimension to “Stefano e Irene,” expanding the album’s sonic palette with intense and original nuances. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Artesuono Recording Studios by Stefano Amerio, "Myricae" was conceived with special attention to sound quality, ensuring a top-level listening experience. Luca Falomi—an extraordinary guitarist rapidly rising on the international music scene—has collaborated as musician, arranger, and composer with William Naraine, Petra Magoni, Ferruccio Spinetti, Franca Masu, Francesco Baccini, Hannah Scott, Fausto Beccalossi, Alberto Fortis, Lukas Mantel, Giovanni Ceccarelli, Michela Lombardi, and many others. He returns to our stage for the third time to present, in quartet, this new musical gem, following the success and unanimous acclaim of his previous works: "Viens Voir" (2011), "Sober" (2014), "Esperanto" (2020), "Y" (2020), and "Sifr" (2023) with the Motus Laevus project together with Edmondo Romano and Tina Omerzo, as well as "Naviganti e Sognatori" (2021) and "Mare Aperto" (2024) with Max Trabucco and Alessandro Turchet. He will be accompanied on stage by three excellent musicians: Eugenia Canale on piano, Stefano Della Casa on cello, and Max Trabucco on drums.
