Casey Chandler: vocals and guitar
Federico Puttilli: guitar
“Galapaghost, moniker of American songwriter Casey Chandler, based in Turin, together with his ‘brother from another mother’ Federico Puttilli on guitar, manage to capture the audience, who remain listening in silence, enchanted by the performers in front of the iconic red sofa at Malpighi Hub.” (Kalporz)
“Galapaghost’s is a multifaceted universe, where every note manages to stand out alongside the others.” (Indie For Bunnies)
“Music designed to be music and nothing else, to enter heads and hearts — and it does so brilliantly. One of the hardest things in modern music is to make pop that is incisive and original, and Casey Galapaghost does it completely.” (In Your Eyes zine)
‘Galapaghost’ is the refined solo project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Casey Chandler, originally from Woodstock (USA) and now living in Turin. His musical journey is that of an independent artist who has been able to transform fragility, intimate visions, and rarefied atmospheres into a coherent and deeply personal path. Chandler began his career as a session musician for John Grant, with whom he performed on the stages of major festivals in North America and Europe, even appearing on the prestigious TV program Later… with Jools Holland. These experiences gave him confidence but never distracted him from the desire to find his own voice. The name ‘Galapaghost’ comes from the fusion of two inspirations: Kurt Vonnegut’s novel "Galapagos" and the song "The Ghost" by Deer Tick. It’s a name that perfectly reflects his poetics: distant, imaginary islands; ghosts of memory and dreams; a soundscape that needs no clear boundaries but thrives on contamination. Galapaghost’s music lives on chiaroscuro contrasts: a minimal folk that opens to electronic experimentations, melodies that seem whispered and suddenly soar in crystalline falsettos, lyrics that alternate between introspection and irony. After his debut with "Runnin’" (2012, recorded in his bedroom) and the follow-up "Dandelion" (2013, created in Italy with Federico Puttilli and Ru Catania), Chandler released his third album "I Never Arrived" (2016), written in Brussels and recorded once again in Italy. From that moment on, his production has never stopped: today Galapaghost’s discography includes eight albums, seven EPs, and numerous singles, up to his most recent live work "Live in Arezzo", which captures the special connection with guitarist Federico Puttilli. The bond between Galapaghost and Italy is not only emotional but also artistic: Gabriele Salvatores chose the track "Never Heard Nothin’" for a crucial scene and for the closing credits of the film "Il Ragazzo Invisibile", and later commissioned Chandler to compose an original piece for the official soundtrack. Director Stefano Sardo also found in his music the right sound to narrate his film "Una Relazione". More recently, a Galapaghost track was selected for a promotional video by sports brand Quiksilver, featuring snowboard legend Travis Rice — further proof of music that knows how to dialogue with images and distant narratives. If his records favor an intimate and often lo-fi approach, Galapaghost’s concerts give body to this universe, transforming it into a collective experience. His live shows are emotional journeys, suspended between fragility and evocative power. Chandler alternates a unique fingerpicking technique on acoustic guitar with a voice that moves effortlessly from deep, full-bodied lows to a warm, enveloping falsetto, capable of turning a concert hall into a space of attentive silence and shared vibration. With a career spanning now 15 years — which began in Piedmont with his very first Italian tour in 2012 — Chandler brings to the stage a performance that captures the complexity of life: at times introspective and melancholic, at other times bright and darkly ironic. At FolkClub he will be joined by Federico Puttilli (Levante, Nadàr Solo, Kiol), Turin-based guitarist and producer, who with his distinctive style and lo-fi approach enriches and completes the sonic world of Galapaghost. The result is a concert that is not just a musical performance but a true emotional narrative: a meeting between two musicians who communicate without filters and who, with simplicity and authenticity, can lead the audience on a journey between introspection and openness, melancholy and hope. An evening that promises to be an unforgettable sonic experience, one of those rare occasions where music and life seem to coincide perfectly.
